UCSD Lab Tours

On July 29, 2025, SD Girls in STEAM once again partnered with UCSD’s Materials Research Science and Engineering Center (MRSEC) to provide underserved students with guided tours of six cutting-edge labs — the Figueroa, Sailor, Burkart, Tezcan, and Li Labs, as well as the Lens Demo. Coordinated in collaboration with UCSD’s professional community, the tour was highlighted by several labs led by accomplished female scientists, whose expertise and dedication inspired students to envision their own futures in STEM.

July 30, 2025
On July 30th, 2025 , new groups of CASA seniors visited UC San Diego’s Chemical and Nano Engineering Department for a second year of immersive tour of campus life and STEM opportunities. School staff welcomed them and introduced the department. A panel of undergraduate and graduate students shared tips on college life, academics, and career preparation.The visit included stops at the Fallen Star, Geisel Library and key campus art. The tour ended with visiting the Chemical Engineering undergraduate lab, and Dr. Joseph Wang’s microrobotics and wearable tech research lab. The visit demonstrated how science and tech can solve real problems in drinking water and life sciences, inspiring CASA seniors to pursue STEM education and careers.
